What To Expect - Bighorn River Guide Service
If your guide has not fished with you before he probably won't have too much of an idea on what type of fishing you are going to do that day when he first meets you. The guide will then gauge your skill level and interests and customize a float for you that day on the Bighorn River. the main types of fishing we do on the Bighorn River near Fort Smith, Montana is deep water nymphing with an indicator, shallow water nymphing to sighted fish, Fishing dries and emergers to rising trout, throwing attractor dries such as grasshoppers, and streamer fishing.
Some people are purists and only want to fish one way and we respect that and do our best to make your preferred style work. The Bighorn is a big river and there are many nooks and crannies to explore with your guide. Open communication is the best way to stay on the same page with your guide. They are there to cater to any fishing style from the guys that would rather have a peaceful float with some fishing along the way to the diehard fish-every-minute fisherman, both are very great attitudes to have.
Another issue to discuss with your guide is whether you would like to spend most of your day wade fishing or prefer fishing out of the drift boat. These preferences will dictate what type of fishing you partake in as well.
